At first glance, there might not be much of a difference between morning and evening workouts other than personal preference. However, there's more to it than meets the eye.

Should you exercise in the morning, or in the evening? Which is better? Let's look at the pros and cons of each.

Why work out in the Morning?

Most people tend to associate working out with mornings or early afternoons. Well, the good news is that you can gain a lot of benefits when you exercise along with the rising of the sun.

Doing your routine in the morning jump-starts your body, and this means your metabolism as well. If you're trying to lose weight, people sometimes say that its best to work out in the morning for fat burning purposes.

Studies show that morning exercise tends to give you a greater energy level boost in the afternoon, which can be helpful for those who work or need to be at their best during this time. Also, since it's usually the first activity you do when you wake up you tend to follow the routine more consistently.

Is Working Out in the Morning Better?

People who exercise in the morning should be including some form of warm-up movements and stretches as you could be more prone to injury. The reason behind this is because your muscles and joints just got out of a state of rest and might not be prepared for intense exercise.

As with a consistent routine, it's easy to just stay in bed because you might have a hard time waking up. Also, you might find your energy has been expended and you're facing fatigue in the middle of the day.

Why Work Out In The Evening?

Working out in the evening has its benefits too. At the end of the day we all would want to let off some steam and exercising is one of the best ways for stress relief. It's good for both our physical and mental wellbeing and can also help with getting a better night’s sleep.

In the evening your body will be in less state of shock going into exercise as it would be in the morning as it’s had time to adjust whilst you’ve been doing your everyday jobs or attending work etc. I would recommend still warming up and stretching as you may have a stationary job that doesn’t require a lot of movement which could affect you going straight into a workout not fully warm and ready.

People tend to have more energy to exercise in the evening than they do waking up, which means you can enjoy a more optimal workout and results. Lastly, the mental clarity that comes after a physical routine can carry on the next day.

Is Working Out in the Evening Better?

Motivation is an essential factor when you decide to work out at night, after a long day at work people can sometimes talk themselves out of exercise because of fatigue, there may even be a better option like going for a drink with friends or that you finish late at work and not feel up for it.

In conclusion it really depends on what type of person you are, you may love getting up early to make the most of your day, you could have children to care for and the only time available is when there sleeping. People who work out in the evening may enjoy getting active and relieving stress after a long day, they may start work early and not feel they have enough time or the gym in fact maybe closed if very early. There are so many different reasons as to why people workout when they do I guess the answer is just do what works for you!
